The Heritage Tour app offers an engaging exploration of Teller County, Colorado, highlighting its diverse historical and cultural heritage. The region's storied past encompasses themes such as the Gold Rush, ghost towns, steam trains, the Wild West, and even the nation's only Mexican bullfight, providing a comprehensive overview through an interactive platform.

Centered around Pikes Peak, the area’s history begins with the Native American Utes and extends through the eras of mountain men, homesteaders, prospectors, and mining magnates who traversed the historic Ute Pass. The enduring character of the region continues to reflect these diverse influences and contributions.

The app guides users along seven distinct driving routes, which can be completed individually or sequentially. Each route features suggested stops and points of interest visible from the road, covering key attractions such as historic and contemporary gold mining operations, pioneering railroads supporting mining and logging industries, National Historic Districts and landmarks, Victorian architecture, and breathtaking mountain scenery. Natural areas like Pike National Forest, Mueller State Park, and surrounding open spaces provide opportunities for hiking, camping, wildlife observation, and relaxation. The Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument presents 34-million-year-old fossils and some of the world's largest petrified redwood stumps. Audio and video clips enrich the experience by contextualizing historical events and elucidating current relevance.

This app was developed by the Heritage Tourism Committee of the Teller Historic and Environmental Coalition. Established in 2000, T.H.E. Coalition aims to promote preservation of Teller County’s historic, cultural, environmental, and scenic resources while fostering broader public understanding of their significance.
